Abstract

|
RFID(Radio Frequency Identification) is automatic identification system, storing and retrieving the data using devices called Radio Frequency(RF) tags. RFID systems consists of RF tags, RF tag readers, and data processing subsystem. By now, RFID system have been used in many areas, such as transportation payments, product tracking, animal identification, supply chain management and asset management. It also has a great potential in healthcare system. However, it may expose new security and privacy threats to consumers. The security and privacy protection is most effective when technical skills implemented in conjunction with a well-formed policy. Now in Korea, several hospitals implemented and adopted RFID system in infant care, patient management, drug management, and asset management. RFID system is expected to become critical in reducing operating costs, and improved patient safety. Most effective RFID system in healthcare can be achieved by various application with hospital information system while guaranteeing security and privacy of patient and medical information.
